Cognitive and neural mechanisms of learning and interventions for improvement across the adult lifespan: A systematic review

Abstract

This systematic review examines cognitive and neural mechanisms of learning and interventions for improving learning across the adult lifespan. The review synthesizes evidence on how learning processes change with age, how neural systems support learning in adulthood and later life, and which intervention approaches have been used to enhance learning outcomes. By integrating cognitive and neural evidence, the article identifies key mechanisms and methodological considerations for designing learning interventions that are sensitive to developmental stage and adult lifespan context.
